Dragon Oil (LON:DGO) revealed today it has successfully drilled and tested another development well offshore Turkmenistan.

The oil and gas explorer told investors the Dzheitune (Lam) 28/174 well, which was completed as a single producer to a depth of 1,976 metres, tested at an initial rate of 1,705 barrels of oil per day (bopd).

The company said scheduled maintenance will be carried out on the drilling rig before moving on to spud the next well on the Dzheitune (Lam) 28 platform.

Elsewhere, the sidetrack of the Dzheitune (Lam) 13/144C well tested at 956 bopd at a total depth of 2,637 metres.

The rig has moved to add intervals to the 13/171 well, while testing and optimisation work are ongoing.

Dragon, which operates the field, owns 100 per cent of the Cheleken contract area, in the eastern section of the Caspian Sea off the coast of Turkmenistan.

The firm is currently focused on redeveloping two oil-producing fields, Dzheitune (Lam) and Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov).
